2017 was one rollercoaster of a year for me, but I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish amidst all the chaos in my life. Photography took a backseat for part of the year while I finished college, worked on myself, and other personal things. It was really hard to put my career on a shelf for a bit, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices for things to be better in the long run. It taught me the difference between people who valued my work and appreciated me as a person vs. people that took what I do for granted. It taught me that I need to make time to put myself out there and do new things like creating videos.

This year I photographed my first magazine cover/feature, ended up finishing my photography bucket list this year when I shot Paramore, got to have one of my photos printed on merch again, had the chance to photograph private performances by The Chainsmokers and Miley Cyrus, completed my goal of shooting a show outside of the US, completed another full year as one of two photo coordinators for New Noise Magazine, and got to document 5 of Vanna's final shows for them.

This blog post showcases 10 of my favorite photos from this year. It also includes the before + after photos of them. I wanted to show everyone how my favorite images started out and how I managed to turn them into photos I loved because I didn't love them straight out of the camera. Some edits are simple, some took a long time to make.

All photographs were taken on a Nikon D750 with either a Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8, Nikon 85mm f/1.8, or Nikon 50mm f/1.8.

Thank you to everyone that supported me through 2017. I appreciate you more than you know. Here's to another year. I can't wait to see what 2018 brings.

Hayley Williams - Paramore

Ronnie Radke - Falling In Reverse

Kenny Downey - Too Close To Touch

Matty Healy - The 1975

The real original RAW file for this is MIA and actually has a keyboard and mic stand initially in it on the left side. I accidentally deleted it when I was cleaning out my LR catalog. Since I used LR's "edit in Photoshop" function to clone everything out, the file I saved after editing in PS saved separately in my LR catalog. I forgot to mark the original RAW as a keeper like I usually do and didn't realize until later. Lesson learned to be more careful after that.

Cole Becker - SWMRS

Hayley Williams - Paramore

Two photos of Hayley because...why not?

A Day To Remember

Zakk Sandler - Falling In Reverse

Justin Bivona - The Interrupters

Casey Aylward + Nick Lambert - Vanna
